Introduction

Hey everyone! My name’s Alexis, and I am so excited to be starting this blog for the Westside Haunted Barn. The Westside Haunted Barn is a group of volunteers located in west Macon County, TN, that come together every October to put together a haunted house for the community. What makes it different than a normal haunted house? Well, for starters, it is based inside of an old tobacco barn. That’s right, sometimes you can go through with the lights on and even see some still hanging from the rafters. The second thing that makes this haunted barn stand out is that no profit is made off of it. Every bit of money that is made, whether it be from the admission fee, concession stand, or even donations, goes straight to Wounded Warrior Project. It’s also made to be family friendly. So, not only does this haunted house give something for the community to do during the month of October, it also gives the community a chance to give back to those who gave us their all. This blog is going to give everyone a bit of insight as to what the Westside Haunted Barn truly is.

Meet the Owners – Part 2

Next, let’s me introduce you to about Eld. Anthony Barber. Barber, along with Bro. Wyndom Wix, is a co-founder of Westside Haunted Barn. He also works as a Resource Counting Lead Analyst, which in lay-man’s terms is a workforce manager who oversees inventory by utilizing reporting and various systems to report data with. He has been a Missionary Baptist preacher for 29 years, and has pastored multiple churches. Barber and his wife Jill have 4 kids and 3 grandkids. In his free time, he likes to spend time with his grandbabies, and he is also always thinking of new ideas to put inside of the barn.

Meet the Owners – Part 1

Let me introduce you to Bro. Wyndom Wix. Wix is the one who owns the barn and the property it’s on. He is also one of the co-founders of Westside Haunted Barn. Wix has been an owner-operator for a trucking company based out of Nashville, TN for 12 years, and has been driving tractor-trailers a total of 34 years. Aside from his career, he has also been a Missionary Baptist preacher since the mid 90s. Along with his wife Linda, they have 8 kids, 11 grandkids, and 1 great-grandkid. He enjoys spending his free time working on the farm and working on whatever may be available in the shop, and he is always thinking about better ideas for the barn and how to gather the materials and execute them.

What is WWP?

Wounded Warrior Project is a non-profit organization that is built to help veterans and active-duty military personnel basically get back on their feet. WWP was founded in 2003 in Roanoke, Virginia, by a group of veterans and friends who wanted to help the injured service men and women. They were founded to help serve those who suffered mental or physical injury on or after September 11, 2001. When someone donates to WWP, whether it be a group or organization like the Westside Haunted Barn, or an individual, 100% of the donation goes towards the veterans. They encourage anyone and everyone who wants to help to make a donation to WWP, so that they may be able to continue to help those in need.
